I wanted to create Elevated Recovery after my prolonged battle with porn addiction

Journey

The idea of Elevated Recovery was born after my prolonged battle with porn addiction. Like most teenagers, I thought pornography was “normal” and something that “everyone did.” But what was first a natural biological habit quickly grew into an unhealthy addiction that took full control of my life. This intense struggle to overcome my pornographic habit led me to question what it must be like for other young adults who face similar challenges I once did.

To better understand the issue I started my own research and found communities with literally thousands of men supporting each other in quitting compulsive pornography viewing. Modern addiction research has been slow in categorizing pornography addiction as a public health issue, and many experts aware of the effects of prolonged porn exposure on the human brain faced stiff resistance from in societies that view pornography as a private matter or assume that anyone who raises concerns about pornography must be anti-pornography.

“This intense struggle to overcome my pornographic habit led me to question what it must be like for other young adults who face similar challenges I once did.”

PornReboot was my first attempt to tackle the issue. It started off by providing recovery treatment and coaching, but as demand quickly grew I had to come up with new strategies for reaching expended audience. Hence I begin to record detailed video recovery courses with accountability exercises as well as weekly webinars and video conferences to fill the demand. As of now, we have filmed 12 courses with experienced therapists and coaches to help teenagers, partners of porn addicts, couples and parents of children who have been battling with this addiction.

Going against the grain

In the early days of spreading awareness of pornography addiction, many people thought I was crazy, or motivated by some sort of religious/conservative agenda. It took a lot of effort to convince people that I was cool with porn, just very concerned with the serious negative effects of an unregulated easily accessible form of entertainment. The massive response we have received from partners of porn addicts, concerned parents, and young people struggling with the guilt and shame had been very motivating.
